Move your Constant Contact list into Salesforce as leads. This template maps name, email, phone, company, title, and full address fields. Two things to know before you start: Salesforce requires LastName and Company on every lead, and Constant Contact exports often have blanks in both columns. The Before you start section below explains how to handle both.
Field-by-field mapping
This is the complete column mapping from Constant Contact to Salesforce Leads. The left column is the header in your CSV export. The right column is the Salesforce Leads field it should map to.
Before you start
This template's destination has 2 required fields that need attention before upload. You can still use this template. The steps below tell you what to add and where.
- Last NameLastName
Salesforce requires LastName on every lead. Constant Contact exports the column, but subscribers who signed up with only an email leave Last Name blank, and Salesforce rejects those rows.
What to do. Before upload, fill any blank Last Name cells with a placeholder like 'Unknown' so every row passes Salesforce's import validation.
- Company
Salesforce requires Company on every lead. Email-marketing subscribers often have no company set, leaving Company Name blank.

Columns we don't use
Your Constant Contact export includes 3 columns this template doesn't map. Each one below explains why, plus the workaround if you want the data in Salesforce Leads.
- Birthday
Salesforce Leads don't have a built-in birthday field.
If you need it. Create a custom date field on the Lead called Birthday, then re-run this template to map it.
- List Memberships
Constant Contact list membership exports as a comma-separated string. Salesforce Leads don't have a list-membership field; campaigns and list views are the equivalent concept.
If you need it. Create Salesforce campaigns matching your Constant Contact lists and add leads as members after import.
- Email Permission Status
Constant Contact's permission column records subscription state (Implicit, Explicit, Unsubscribed). Salesforce uses the HasOptedOutOfEmail field, which is set per-lead and not directly mappable from a status string.
If you need it. Filter out Unsubscribed rows before upload. For the rest, set HasOptedOutOfEmail in Salesforce after import based on subscription preference.
Formatting and cleanup
Constant Contact exports rarely match the format Salesforce Leads expects. Fix these before you import.

Salesforce checks for duplicates based on your org's matching rules. Review your duplicate settings before importing to control how matches are handled.
