How to import Lusha User Data into HubSpot

This template handles Lusha's User Data export, which ships a single Contact name column, three email slots, and six type-named phone slots. It maps to HubSpot's standard contact fields: name, email, job title, company, LinkedIn profile, and industry. Contact name splits into First Name and Last Name on the first space. Mobile goes to the Mobile Phone Number field, and the main Phone field takes the first available work number from Direct phone or Phone. Lifecycle Stage and Lead Status are set to Lead and New on every row. Phones are standardized and emails are lowercased. If your export has separate First name and Last name columns, use the Lusha Prospecting template instead.

Columns we don't use

Your Lusha User Data export includes 6 columns this template doesn't map. Each one below explains why, plus the workaround if you want the data in HubSpot.

Work email 2, Private email

HubSpot Contacts has one native email field, which this template fills from Work email. A secondary work email and a personal email have no native place on the contact.

If you need it. Map them by hand to custom contact properties if you want every email kept.

Mobile 2, Phone 2, Direct phone 2

HubSpot Contacts has two phone fields. Mobile fills the Mobile Phone Number field and the main Phone field is filled from the first available of Direct phone and Phone. The second numbers in each pair have no native place on the contact.

If you need it. Map them by hand to custom contact properties if you want every number kept separately.

Sub industry

HubSpot Contacts has no native sub-industry field. The main Industry value maps; Lusha's finer-grained Sub industry has no standard place.

If you need it. Map it by hand to a custom contact property if you want the sub-industry kept.

Formatting and cleanup

Lusha User Data exports rarely match the format HubSpot expects. Fix these before you import.

  1. 1.Splits Contact name into First Name and Last Name on the first space
  2. 2.Lowercases and trims email addresses
  3. 3.Standardizes phone numbers to international format (+1, +44, etc.)
  4. 4.Sends Mobile to the Mobile Phone Number field and fills the main Phone field with the first available work number (Direct phone, then Phone)
  5. 5.Sets Lifecycle Stage to Lead and Lead Status to New on every row, since Lusha's export carries neither
  6. 6.Trims whitespace and removes blank rows

Lusha User Data to HubSpot FAQ

Which Lusha export does this template expect?

The User Data export, which ships a single Contact name column, three email slots (Work email, Work email 2, Private email), and six type-named phone slots (Mobile, Mobile 2, Phone, Phone 2, Direct phone, Direct phone 2). If your export has separate First name and Last name columns plus Seniority and Departments, that's the Prospecting export. Use the Lusha Prospecting to HubSpot Contacts template for that shape.

How do I export from Lusha?

In Lusha, open the list you want, then use the list's export option to download a CSV. Lusha emails you a download link when the file is ready. Upload that CSV to Operelio.

Why are some email and phone columns blank?

Lusha uses a credit-per-reveal model, so contacts you haven't spent credits to reveal ship with blank email or phone columns. Operelio preserves those blanks rather than guessing values, so HubSpot doesn't overwrite existing data on import.

How does the Contact name column split?

Lusha's User Data export ships the full name in one Contact name column. The template splits it into First Name and Last Name on the first space. A single-word name goes to First Name and leaves Last Name empty. Names with three or more tokens, like a double-barrelled surname, put the first token in First Name and the rest in Last Name.

Why does the template set Lifecycle Stage and Lead Status?

Lusha's export doesn't carry a lifecycle stage or a lead status, but HubSpot has both fields and reps expect them filled. A freshly revealed list is a Lead in the New status, so the template sets Lifecycle Stage to Lead and Lead Status to New on every row. Change them, or remove them, in the column mapper if your process is different.

Will this create duplicates if a contact already exists in HubSpot?

No. HubSpot uses email as the unique identifier for contacts. Rows whose email matches an existing contact update that record; rows with a new email create a new contact. Rows with a blank Work email may be created as new records, so review those before import.
