How to import Intercom data into Pipedrive

Intercom and Pipedrive both use a single Name field, so the data lines up directly. This template maps name, email, phone, organization, and job title. Intercom's city, country, and timestamp data don't have a default Pipedrive home. The section below explains what to do with each one if you need it.

Field-by-field mapping

This is the complete column mapping from Intercom to Pipedrive. The left column is the header in your CSV export. The right column is the Pipedrive field it should map to.

Columns we don't use

Your Intercom export includes 4 columns this template doesn't map. Each one below explains why, plus the workaround if you want the data in Pipedrive.

City, Country

Pipedrive contacts don't store address fields by default. Location typically lives on the organization record in Pipedrive's data model.

If you need it. If you need the location on the contact, add custom fields in Pipedrive and re-run this template. Otherwise update the matching organization's address after import.

Created at, Last seen

Pipedrive doesn't have built-in 'imported timestamp' or 'last seen' fields on contacts.

If you need it. Add custom date fields on the Pipedrive contact (e.g. Intercom Created, Last Active), then re-run this template to map them. Useful for measuring engagement against signup recency.

Formatting and cleanup

Intercom exports rarely match the format Pipedrive expects. Fix these before you import.

  1. 1.Maps Intercom's Name directly to Pipedrive's name field (no split needed)
  2. 2.Lowercases and trims email addresses
  3. 3.Standardizes phone numbers to international format (+1, +44, etc.)
  4. 4.Matches Company name to an existing Pipedrive organization, or creates a new one

Or skip the manual work

Operelio runs this cleanup and mapping for you. Upload your Intercom export and download a clean, import-ready file for Pipedrive.

Intercom to Pipedrive FAQ

How do I export contacts from Intercom?

In Intercom, open Contacts, filter to the segment you want, click the export icon at the top-right, and choose CSV.

Why is name a direct map and not split?

Both Intercom and Pipedrive use a single name field for the contact, so the data lines up directly. No splitting needed.

How is Company name handled?

Company names match against existing Pipedrive organizations. If no match exists, the template creates a new organization and links the contact to it.

Will this create duplicate contacts in Pipedrive?

Pipedrive's import dedupes on Name plus one of email, phone, or organization. An Intercom contact matches an existing Pipedrive contact when the name and email both align. Contacts whose Intercom Name field differs from the Pipedrive Name create a new contact even when the email matches.

What about Intercom conversations and tags?

This template handles contact attributes only. Conversation history, tags, and custom attributes don't carry over to Pipedrive by default. They require separate exports and custom field mapping.
