How to import Shopify data into Pipedrive

Import your Shopify customers into Pipedrive. The template combines First Name and Last Name into Pipedrive's single Name field, matches Company to an organization, and maps email, phone, and the per-customer Note column. Pipedrive uses a leaner contact model than HubSpot or Salesforce, so a few Shopify columns don't have a Pipedrive home. The section below lists them and what to do about each one.

Field-by-field mapping

This is the complete column mapping from Shopify to Pipedrive. The left column is the header in your CSV export. The right column is the Pipedrive field it should map to.

Pipedrive uses a single Name field, so we combine the two columns into one.

Columns we don't use

Your Shopify export includes 9 columns this template doesn't map. Each one below explains why, plus the workaround if you want the data in Pipedrive.

Address1, City, Province, Zip, Country

Pipedrive contacts don't store address fields by default. Addresses live on organizations.

If you need it. If you need the address on the contact, add custom address fields in Pipedrive and re-run this template. Otherwise let the organization address handle it.

Total Spent

Pipedrive contacts don't have a default lifetime-value field.

If you need it. Create a custom monetary field on the Pipedrive contact called Total Spent, then re-run this template to map it.

Total Orders

Pipedrive contacts don't have a default order-count field.

If you need it. Create a custom number field on the Pipedrive contact called Total Orders, then re-run this template to map it.

Tags

Shopify exports tags as a comma-separated string. Pipedrive uses filters and labels rather than free-form tags.

If you need it. Add Tags as a custom multi-option field on the Pipedrive contact, or use Pipedrive's label colors to mark imported customers by segment after import.

Accepts Email Marketing

This column records whether each customer opted in to marketing emails. Pipedrive doesn't have an opt-in field on contacts by default.

If you need it. Filter out rows where Accepts Email Marketing is 'no' before upload so opted-out customers don't get marketing communications. Or add a custom field on the Pipedrive contact called Marketing Opt-in and re-run this template to map it.

Formatting and cleanup

Shopify exports rarely match the format Pipedrive expects. Fix these before you import.

  1. 1.Combines First Name and Last Name into Pipedrive's single Name field
  2. 2.Lowercases and trims email addresses
  3. 3.Standardizes phone numbers to international format (+1, +44, etc.)
  4. 4.Matches Company to an existing Pipedrive organization, or creates a new one

Or skip the manual work

Operelio runs this cleanup and mapping for you. Upload your Shopify export and download a clean, import-ready file for Pipedrive.

Shopify to Pipedrive FAQ

How do I export my Shopify customers?

Go to Customers in your Shopify admin, click Export, choose 'All customers', and select CSV format.

Why does this template combine First Name and Last Name?

Pipedrive contacts use a single Name field, not separate first/last. We combine the two columns with a space so your contact records look right in Pipedrive.

What if a customer's company name doesn't exist in Pipedrive?

The template creates a new organization in Pipedrive and links the contact to it. If the company already exists, the contact links to the existing org.

What about Shopify customer tags and purchase data?

Tags, Total Spent, and Total Orders don't have default Pipedrive contact fields. See 'Columns we don't use' below for how to add custom fields and map them.

Will this create duplicates in Pipedrive?

Pipedrive's import dedupes on Name plus one of email, phone, or organization, so a customer row matches an existing contact only when both the name and at least one of those match. Returning customers with the same email and a tidy name update the existing contact; customers who shipped under variant name spellings ('Jon' vs 'Jonathan') create new contacts.
