How to import Mailchimp data into Pipedrive

Export your Mailchimp audience and bring those subscribers into Pipedrive. The template combines First Name and Last Name into Pipedrive's single Name field, then maps email, phone, and the per-subscriber notes column. Mailchimp's address block, engagement scores, and tag columns don't have a default Pipedrive home. The section below explains what to do with each one if you need it.

Field-by-field mapping

This is the complete column mapping from Mailchimp to Pipedrive. The left column is the header in your CSV export. The right column is the Pipedrive field it should map to.

First Name + Last NameName*name

Pipedrive uses a single Name field, so we combine the two Mailchimp columns into one.

NOTESNotesnotes

Mailchimp's per-subscriber notes land in Pipedrive's contact Notes field as a single text value. The free text is preserved verbatim.

Columns we don't use

Your Mailchimp export includes 8 columns this template doesn't map. Each one below explains why, plus the workaround if you want the data in Pipedrive.

Address, City, State, Zip, Country

Pipedrive contacts don't store address fields by default. Addresses live on organizations in Pipedrive's data model.

If you need it. If you need the address on the contact, add custom address fields in Pipedrive and re-run this template. Otherwise associate the contact with a Pipedrive organization that holds the address.

MEMBER_RATING, OPTIN_TIME

Mailchimp's engagement score and opt-in timestamp are Mailchimp-specific. Pipedrive contacts don't have equivalent fields by default.

If you need it. Add custom number and date fields on the Pipedrive contact called Member Rating and Opt-in Time, then re-run this template to map them.

TAGS

Mailchimp tags export as a comma-separated string. Pipedrive uses Filters and Labels rather than free-form tags.

If you need it. After import, build Pipedrive filters by tag value, or use Pipedrive label colors to mark imported subscribers by segment.

Formatting and cleanup

Mailchimp exports rarely match the format Pipedrive expects. Fix these before you import.

  1. 1.Combines First Name and Last Name into Pipedrive's single Name field
  2. 2.Lowercases and trims email addresses
  3. 3.Standardizes phone numbers to international format (+1, +44, etc.)

Or skip the manual work

Operelio runs this cleanup and mapping for you. Upload your Mailchimp export and download a clean, import-ready file for Pipedrive.

Mailchimp to Pipedrive FAQ

How do I export my Mailchimp audience?

In Mailchimp, go to Audience, click View Contacts, then click Export Audience. Download the CSV when it's ready.

Why do you combine First Name and Last Name?

Pipedrive contacts use a single Name field, not separate first/last. The template combines the two columns with a space so each contact record displays correctly.

What about unsubscribed Mailchimp contacts?

Mailchimp exports include subscribed and unsubscribed addresses. Filter unsubscribed rows out of the CSV before upload to avoid importing people who opted out.

Will this create duplicate contacts in Pipedrive?

Pipedrive's import dedupes on Name plus one of email, phone, or organization. A Mailchimp subscriber matches an existing Pipedrive contact when the name and email both align. Subscribers whose name spelling differs from the existing record will create a new contact even when the email matches.

Where do I import the CSV into Pipedrive?

In Pipedrive, go to Tools > Import data > From a spreadsheet, and upload the file Operelio produces. The import wizard matches the column headers to Pipedrive fields.
